Adopt
Adopting a greyhound into your family is one of the best things you will ever do. It’s a chance for you to save a life and share a loving relationship with a dog who hasn’t been shown that care ever before.
Contrary to common belief, greyhounds are generally lazy and do not require long periods of exercise. Although they are large dogs, due to being partial to long periods of sleep, they can make the perfect dog for smaller homes. Not all greyhounds are bothered by smaller animals, and some can more than happily live with cats, as well as small children.
Here are some local and Australia wide greyhound rescue groups to find your new best friend through.
Foster
Foster carers save lives. Every greyhound rescued has a chance at the life they deserve. Without foster carers, these dogs would have no hope at finding their forever home, instead facing more cruelty or neglect. Fostering is a rewarding experience that you don’t go through alone – foster groups are there with you at every step of the way.

Share
The more people who know about the plight of greyhounds, the more hearts that will be open to helping these dogs.
If you aren’t in a position to adopt or foster a greyhound, perhaps you know someone who is!
Rescue groups are simply overrun with greyhounds in need, so sharing this website with potential fosterers of forever homes is hugely helpful.

If you’d like to help even more, you can donate funds to registered charity Free the Hounds, to help them continue their life saving advocacy work for greyhounds in Australia and offshore.
